More About Us

We are a two form entry Church of England primary school of 453 children. Most of our children live within walking distance of the school.

St. Michael's has a long, illustrious history which has seen many changes over the years.

Our school was founded in 1858 and our building is a skilful blend of old and new with a substantial extension completed in 2011 to accommodate Year Five and Six children, who were previously taught at the original site in Dean's Croft across from St Michael's Church, known as the annex.

Do things the St. Michaels Way!

At St. Michael's we're dedicated to providing an exciting learning experience for all of our children. This experience, rooted in Christian values, encourages the children to be the best that they can. We recognise every child as an individual, with their own unique talents.  We work hard to create a happy, secure and inclusive school in which every child feels valued and respected - with opportunities to learn for all.

This approach is underpinned by our 3 core values: Kindness; Friendliness; and Confidence. These promote the spiritual, moral and social development of every child and help the pupils see the school as a safe place, a place where they feel special and that allows them to flourish.‚Äč

In fact, it's the experience the children enjoy at school, learning the St. Michael's way, which helps them to become the people they are!
