The links between St Michael’s Church and school are long standing and very established. Each Tuesday Years 5 and 6 visit Church for school worship which is led by a member of the Ministry Team. At least once a month a member of the Ministry Team comes into school to lead whole school worship.
Throughout the year children visit Church to experience different types and styles of worship within the Anglican tradition and also to enhance their curriculum learning in RE and other subjects. Such opportunities include:
A warm welcome from St Michael’s Church.......
St Michael’s Church is proud of its strong links with St Michael’s our local church school. The relationship has been built up over many years and it enhances the life of the church and the life of the school. Pupils and staff come to the church for worship and various activities throughout the year.
We recognise that there are some pupils from families who embrace the Christian faith but many more from families who follow a different faith or none. It is the aim of the ministry team and congregation at the church to give a warm welcome to everyone. Our desire to offer hospitality arises from our conviction that we are all children of God and that we are all learning how to live well with respect and integrity – no matter what age we are.
Through our shared life and activities, we emphasise our common humanity and our calling to care for one another and the environment. We also learn together how to try our best and sometimes how to fail and start again.
At the heart of our church life is the conviction that God is love and that this is seen most clearly in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. We want to share that understanding with the whole school community in an open conversation and exploration of what that might mean for every one of us.
